The Law of Hilarious Generosity
Each should give what they have decided in their heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2Corinthians 9:7).
In their book entitled, The 33 Laws of Stewardship, David Sutherland and Kirk Nowery identifies “Hilarious Generosity” as one of the principles for a life of true fulfillment. God loves a cheerful giver (2Cor. 9:7). God loves a cheerful giver they said because it is the right and honorable response to the greatness of God’s giving toward us.
God gave the only begotten Son to purchase our salvation. God gave the Holy Spirit as our eternal comforter, guide and teacher. God gave the promise of abundant life here and eternal life hereafter in His presence in Heaven. God gave free access to God’s presence allowing us to come with our petitions, promising to hear us when we pray. God gave us all this and so much more! How can we not give?
